Boston’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade

After having lived in Boston for so long, I am almost embarrassed to say that I have not been to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Until today.
I love parades. The costumes. The music. The free candy. But I think I would have enjoyed today’s parade more if it would not have been that cold. After an hour of taking pictures it was painful to move my fingers.

My favorite part of the parade was the Irish spirit that the visitors showed. I love how much effort some people put into dressing up and some ideas were very original and fun.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!

Good Morning Boston

Although it is the afternoon already – This was me this morning: Messy hair and tired eyes – but there is nothing a good cup of coffee in the morning can’t fix.

Do you like the holes in my shirt?

Clear Flour Bakery: A taste of Europe in Boston

A bit hidden in a side street of a Brookline neighborhood is Clear Flour, a tiny European bakery. I discovered this spot 3 years ago and would go there whenever I needed something that reminded me of home. Clear Flour sells French, Italian as well as German and Austrian bread and pastries and believe me when I am saying that they are beyond delicious. Every time I have been there Clear Flour was crowded with customers (it fits maybe 6-7 people at the same time) and often people waited outside. However, the line moves quickly and the wait is more than worth it.

The menu is different for every day of the week and they also offer special items for occasions like Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, or Thanksgiving. A calendar of what will be available when can be found on the bakery’s website.
Make sure to stop by at Clear Flour to pick up rolls for your Sunday breakfast, a baguette for the dinner party in the evening or a cake for your afternoon coffee.

Snowstorm NEMO

Since there is still no way of getting around in Boston other than by foot, I am going to spend another day inside with lots of snacks, magazines, my favorite TV shows, and my blog. Not that that is a bad thing, but I am looking forward to being able to get around the city again and explore the great places which Boston and Cambridge have to offer.

Stay safe everyone, enjoy a quiet and relaxing day at home with your family and use the time to do the things that you have wanted to do in a while:

– Stay in bed all day
– Read the book that you have bought weeks ago
– Clean the house
– Catch up on your favorite TV shows
– Spend some quality time with your family and friends: play board games or have a movie marathon
– Finish that painting that you started a long time ago
– Continue working on your scrap book
– Cook a nice dinner
– Try out that new cake recipe (and blog about it)
– Catch up with friends you have not spoken to in a while
– Search the web and create a list of restaurants you want to go to in Boston and Cambridge

As for me, I will be working on yet another Valentine’s Day related blog post. Hey, Valentine’s Day is less than a week away!
I hope you have already reserved a table in your favorite restaurant!

Check back later today for an exciting new post!

A chilled night out

Here are just some snapshots of a rather simple outfit which I wore to a bar last night.
The T-Shirt is from H&M and the purse is from Deichman.

I got the key necklace for my 21st birthday from one of the greatest people I know. It is one of my all time favorites.

I love the hair style from last night from one of my friends, so I just have to post a picture of it. She straightened her hair, parted it far on the side, and pulled it together into a pony tail.
